Psalm 3:3 “But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.”

Take a moment today to read all of Psalm 3, you can find it at the bottom of the devotion today.

For me personally, I love Psalm 3, especially in the midst of a trial or struggle. King David begins the chapter by pointing out what people think He cannot do. In life, we deal with a lot of the same issues people can view us based on how they see us and sometimes we even have the same doubts ourselves. But that is not how God sees us. You see, God sees us not as we are but as who we’ll become through Him. It means He gives us the strength we need to overcome our weaknesses. He will be the one to protect us and hold us up. We simply have to put our faith and trust in Him.

Whatever your battle, whatever your struggle. God knows about it (verse 4), He has your back (verse 3). He’ll watch over you (verse 5) help you overcome your fears and doubts (verse 6), give you the strength to overcome (verse 7) and bring victory (verse 8).

It is easy to get down on yourself when under attack from others or within (your mind) but take heart, the Lord is with you and He is all you need! So bring your struggles, doubts, insecurities, and battles before the Lord and allow God to help you accomplish the impossible.

Psalm 3

1 O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me. 2 So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” 3 But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. 4 I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. 5 I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me. 6 I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side. 7 Arise, O LORD! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked! 8 Victory comes from you, O LORD. May you bless your people.
