Control The Flesh
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him” -Romans 8:6-9
We are in a real battle, which requires real weapons especially when we are up against “the flesh”. It can surface at any time in many different ways.. The reason we call it the flesh is because of our fallen nature, which is in direct opposition to the things of God. The apostle Paul calls us to “purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God”- 2 Corinthians 7:1
The goal of the flesh is to elevate self, it seeks to be heard first and noticed above those around us. It wants its way and it becomes indignant if others do not agree with it. Jesus overcame the power of every fleshly action that we struggle against. And only God can successfully deal with the flesh, by eliminating its power. We need to exercise self-control, because if the spiritual does not govern the physical, we can become a easy target for the enemy.- Romans 12:1-2 While we might retain old fleshly patterns of thinking, we do not have to succumb to living by them, because we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. When we pray and confess our need for Christ, He comes to us and abides with us through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit then gives us power and ability to exercise self-control. You are no longer under the rule of the flesh. The very best is ours because we belong to almighty God. And His love for us is everlasting. Grow in your spiritual life, devote yourself to prayer!- 1 Corinthians 7:5
We are told to “put on” the Lord Jesus Christ.
You can say “no” to flesh! Stop pushing, planning, and plotting to be noticed or to attain worldly treasures.
Are you going to live in the flesh, or is Jesus going to have the privilege of living His life through you?
You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit..-Romans 8:9
You will be more victorious in your Christian walk when you exercise your Spirit-given self-control. Fight the Flesh!
