Stuck in Sin?

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” -Psalm 103:11-12

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

Ever feel stuck in your sin? I sure do sometimes. “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” (Romans 7:15) Paul felt the same way in Romans 7. I have good news for you, though; your sin no longer counts against you! Paul goes on to say that, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2) The wages of sin might be death (Romans 6:23), but Jesus paid the price for our sins by dying in our place. This does not mean that we will stop sinning, but it means we are free from the eternal punishment that our sin required of us. So now we are free to live for Christ instead of being bound to our sins!

If you are stuck in your sin, turn to God who has the power to separate you and your transgressions as far as the east is from the west. He will set you free if you accept his gift of salvation. Today, live as though you are free. God has made us alive together with Christ (Ephesians 2:5). Consider yourself free!
