Are You Hiding From God.?
“Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?" -Jeremiah 23:24
What is a hiding place? Why do we seek to go there some times?
A hiding place is a place where we can feel safe from impending danger. It’s a place where we can get away from whatever troubles us. It’s a place where no one knows just where we are and what we are feeling. I have been in a hiding place, sneaking out doors so I don’t have to pretend to be happy or even to smile. I reached a point where my cry to God was, “ I have been all I know how to be. I’ve done things that no one else can, or will, ever do. I’ve been loyal. I’ve been faithful. I’ve kept my promise, but I can’t do this anymore. I felt it was me against a whole nation. That everyone had turned their backs on me. I have felt that with those God placed before, I’ve done all I can do to teach them the truth. My question then... What else do you want from me God!"
Have you ever been to a all time low where you questioned whether or not you wanted to be God’s disciple anymore.? I was there.
How many of us look for that hiding place sometimes and when we find a place where we can feel safe and get away from everything, that’s where we decide to camp out for a while.? We don’t care what God wants us to do. We give up for a time on the call of God on our lives, and we fall asleep spiritually in our hiding place.
That hiding place might be a place where we can still have the appearance of being a mighty man or woman of God, but we don’t have to do anything or be accountable to anyone. It might be that we have a good excuse not to be where we should be or serve the Lord the way we know we should.
Do you remember what Luke 10:41-42 says “But the Lord said to her, My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
We all have them don’t we.? Like Jonah or Elijah are you running from the Lord and hiding out.?
God knows where you are. He knows what you are doing and He isn’t going to let you get too comfortable in your hiding place. There are no hideouts or hideaways God does not know about. You will eventually come face-to-face with Him at a time and in a place you least expect. He needs you back on the battlefield.
Run to the Lord, not away from the Lord. Hide in the Lord, not from the Lord. He will find you and bring you out to a place of victory. Trust Him.
