Memorial Day

"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."- John 15:13

So many take our freedom for granted. Because we live in a land of freedom, we are able to freely share our faith with those around us. Today we can pray, sing, fellowship, worship God together, reading His Word without fear of reprisal, intimidation, persecution, and with no restriction from the government, whatsoever. It truly is a blessing we take for granted here in the USA.

The Bible says, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” -Proverbs 14:34

War is certainly a regrettable thing, but necessary, no one in their right mind likes war, and nobody wants to go to war. It isn’t  glamorous or romantic, although Hollywood often tries to portray it as such. War is a terrible thing. But there are some things that are even worse than war for instance, there are many wicked people in this world that will kill, steal, and destroy without ever blinking an eye.

This week take time to concentrate on how blessed you are and the freedoms you enjoy and often take for granted… freedoms that many don’t enjoy or even understand in today’s world. Remember the price others before us paid to guarantee the freedoms we have  and enjoy today. We should be thankful…. Thankful indeed. “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” -Galatians 5:13

Remembering those who gave their lives is important, also may we never forget to praise and honor the Christ who died for a dying world. Truly, there is no greater love than this. As you gather with your family close to you this Memorial Day, remember Him and the thousands of others like Him.  Remember those who have been lost and all those who today, right now, are holding a weapon so that you and I don’t have to.

Father God, As we remember you and all of those who followed in your footsteps to have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection. We also remember the families of our troops. God we ask for your many blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, provision, and strength will fill their lives. May all members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each and every day and may they trust in Your mighty power to accomplish each task they are given. In your name we pray. Amen.

We are remembering your sacrifice today and everyday...Thank You and God Bless You all!
