Be An Encouragement To Others

1 Thessalonians 3: 7-8 “Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith. For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.”

Have you ever realized that someone is watching you? Maybe it is a friend, child, younger sibling, parent or co-worker. As a believer someone who does not believe is watching you as well as other believers. They notice what you do when things are going well and they especially notice during the hard times and struggles of life. The question then is, is our faith and walk with God an encouragement to others?

It is sometimes hard to believe that people are watching us. For most of us we live our lives and we try to do the best we can but in each of our lives, different things can happen. The storms of life bring stress, problems and circumstances that can take us to our breaking point and for some even beyond. Yet how we weather the storm is what people are truly watching. Will we give up or will we persevere? The thing is we won’t know until the trial is over but those trials build and strengthen us similar to how trials strengthen trees. When a trial in the form of a drought or lack of water comes at a tree, a tree has to dig deeper and deeper with its roots and spread them farther and farther away from the trunk searching for water. The trial strengthens it more than trees that have shallow roots and plenty of water. Eventually a big storm comes in, having grown up in Florida, those were normally hurricanes. The winds get so strong that some trees break, some bend, others are pulled up roots and all but the trees that have survived the smaller trials and build a strong foundation are the ones that weather the storm.

Our faith is the same the more we exercise it and weather the storms we face the stronger it will become and the more our faith can encourage others. So no matter what you are facing or going through today. Know this, God loves you, He is right beside you, and He will help your through the storm you are facing.
