Believe. Endure. Conquer.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us...” -Hebrews 12:1

Throughout Scripture, we see many reminders for believers to endure. In Revelation, when Jesus is speaking to the seven churches, he encourages all of the churches to endure and conquer. Take a look:

“I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary... To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God... Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life... The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death... To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it... The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations... The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels... Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God... The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.” -Revelation 2:3, 7, 10, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 11-12, 21

Jesus has a lot to say about those who endure and conquer! Why do you think he says this so many times? In the midst of all of these, the churches that he’s speaking to are in the midst of either trials or unbelieving people. When you are surrounded by hard circumstances, do not be surprised because Jesus says that, “In the world, you will have tribulation.” (John 16:33b) You will face trouble and you will face unbelief, but “run with endurance the race that is set before [you].” Jesus has “overcome the world.” (John 16:33c) “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37) And according to the verses in Revelation, Jesus promises great blessings to those who conquer!

Remember your faith, endure through trial, conquer unbelief, and you will find eternal reward!
