God Wants So Much More For You
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is His faithfulness.”- Lamentations 3: 22 & 23
Do you know the story in the Bible of when Jesus healed Simon Peter’s mother-in-law.?
The word spread very quickly and people crammed the entryway with their sick relatives. Jesus healed many of them, but not all. Then Jesus went off by himself to pray before sunrise. Later that morning, more people began banging on the door and demanding for Jesus’ healing.
Mark 1:36-38 says “Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”
God called His Son to give eternal life, yet the people could only see the need for healing in the life they were living on earth. Did they miss the point.? Couldn’t they see that Jesus came to offer them so much more. What would have happened to him if He would have returned to that town.? They didn’t realize the true healing He offered through His teaching and eventually through His sacrifice on the cross.
Remember Jesus went off to pray and after praying about it, Jesus obeyed His Father and moved on. The truth is, there is more to life than what we are facing on this earth whether we are suffering or rejoicing right now. Yes, we can pray for healing, we can pray for relief, we can even pray for help through whatever we face today. But I think it is important for us to remember that Jesus calls us to experience something beyond our daily needs. If you feel overwhelmed in your life right now, pray and then choose to refocus on the gospel and its message. Remember His kindness toward you in the middle of your unkind circumstances. Ask Him for His heart, His hopes and His plans for your life. Jesus came to give us so much more than what worries us at the moment.
Father God, help me to realize Your great plan. Help me to not be so concerned about the here because I don’t want to miss your blessings and promises for the my eternal life with You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
