Frustration in Adversities

“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”-Psalm 94:19

Have you ever expressed frustration with God.? Have you ever felt like God was allowing too many hardships in life.? Do you blame God for your adversities.?

There are times that it feels like life is just a series of obstacles and problems that I must endure and while I’m at it I have to fight against doubt and depression that tries to set in.

I have to admit at times it’s easy to hang my heartaches on God and question.. “Why does my  life have to be so hard.? Why can’t my life be happy like other peoples.? When will you fix my world, God.?”

Then the apostle Paul reminds me “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”

I could become bitter toward God by believing that I deserve to be happy, and that God is in charge of making me happy. I don’t want to ever be bitter at God, so it is important to make sure I keep my focus on God and who He says He is and He wants for me; because in reality, God is more interested in me becoming like Jesus and living life abundantly, and if I’m happy along the way that’s a bonus.

I am also once again reminded that no where in the Bible are we as Christians promised a life of ease without problems or suffering.  In fact, we are guaranteed troubles in this life. -John 16:33

Maybe I need to get my logic in check. Is your logic something along the lines of... (If God is sovereign and in control of everything, He can prevent my suffering and hardships.  If God loves me, than He will keep me from hardship.  So, if I experience hardship, that means...God doesn’t love me.?)

The truth is that God does love us and allows us to suffer for His glory and our own good.  This is in fact the promise of Romans 8:28, “That God works all things together for the good of those who love him and who have been called according to his purpose.”

Have you been whining at God?  What attitude should flow from understanding that God made you and, that he doesn’t ‘owe’ you anything.?

He gave you guidelines to enjoy a redeemed life. Stop grumbling. Whatever you are going through God recognizes something that needs to be fixed. Whether it be your lack of compassion, your attitude, the way you don’t show love to others, rest assured there is something He is working on. We know this already because we know He allows hardship to come into our life for our own maturity and Christ-likeness. You’re not being punished for your sins or weak faith. -Hebrews 10:14-18 He is training you in righteousness.

So ...“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

You are growing in wisdom even though you may not be able to see it right now, but in the future when you are looking back, you will be able to see the fingerprints of God’s grace in your life. Just as you can now in years that have past.

So rest assured, knowing that God is indeed working all things together for your good.  Glorify Him in the midst of all you are living through and cling to Him as your only hope.  Trust in His Word and stop leaning on your emotions. He is your Rock. He loves you and is holding you firmly in His hands even in this.  As a faithful Christian living your life to bring glory to God and being dedicated to sharing God’s love and truth with others, persecution is promised by Jesus. You know this, but you ALSO KNOW to take comfort in the words Jesus spoke. “In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” -John 16:33

Father God, Please forgive me for grumbling about my lot in life and for leaning on my emotions instead of You; humble me to accept who I am and this life that you have for me. Guide me in your ways that I may enjoy your life abundant as I cling to Your words and promises. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
