Spiritual Warfare

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” -Ephesians 6:10-12

We are in the fight of our lives! Spiritual warfare is resisting, overcoming and defeating the enemy's lies that he sends our way. Just so you know if you are a follower of God, you have an enemy who is invisible and if you think spiritual warfare is irrelevant to you, you may already be losing the battle.

The scripture above teaches some crucial truths: we can only be strong in the Lord’s power, it is God’s armor that protects us, even though not all sin, conflict, or problem, are because of demons. Our battle is in fact against spiritual forces of evil. There may be times when it seems that you cannot go forward, but at least you do not have to go backward. Give praise to God in the midst of everything. Praise Him! Praise Him! You may not feel like it, you may feel lost in the fog but praise Him anyway! You are waging spiritual warfare when you give praise to God in the midst of your need and lack. When you choose to be thankful to God for all He has done and is doing regardless of the way things look you are defeating the enemy.

Stop allowing yourself to be agitated and disturbed; and stop permitting yourself to be fearful, intimidated, cowardly, and unsettled. You may not know how to move ahead, but stand firmly on what you know of God and put your armor on daily. It is ONLY by using God’s armor, His strength and His power, we can persevere, but without being prepared, we cannot stand. Don’t yield to the enemy! Tell him you are gaining ground and not giving up! Don’t let him drive back into the hole God pulled you out of. Stand Strong in the Power of God until He delivers you. Colossians 3:15 says, “And let the peace from Christ rule in your hearts (deciding and settling all questions that arise in your minds)...And be thankful (appreciative), giving praise to God always.

Spend time in God’s presence, stop avoiding encouragement and he will show you how to resist the devil. When He shows you, do whatever He tells you to do! Even if it seems silly! “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” -James 4:7
