Delay, Halt, Still Waiting..

"These things won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" -Habakkuk 2:3

I was reading Are You Waiting to my husband last night. He quickly said, “I don’t want to hear it. I’m tired of hearing it. I have been waiting a long time now.”  Sure, frustration can grow and depression can creep in, but I asked him this question and I will also ask you the same.

It may seem like you have been waiting a long time but in that waiting how long have you been completely obedient to God.?

It makes a difference. You have read in my writings before with obedience comes blessings. We also know that from reading God’s word. “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.” - Deuteronomy 28:1

Lessons are an ongoing part of life. One of the most difficult faith lessons we will learn is to wait upon the Lord.  I understand difficult or painful situations that may be wearing you down because there’s just no end in sight, or maybe need to make a decision because you don’t know which way to go, or praying for something and waiting for a response. I’m living it and my husband is also, but it’s in these times it is best  to wait for the Lord, even though we want that instant relief or immediate direction. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.”

There are times my flesh feels like saying, “Are you kidding me! You want me to stay in this!!”  But we can’t move forward without God’s instruction. We will miss His plan for us. When we wait we are making an active choice to be at rest, trusting in God and His timing. Choose to be still in your spirit.

God has many plans for you, if He stops you in your tracks maybe it’s because you need to do a little  “internal housecleaning.” Maybe you are tolerating a sin in your life, maybe you need to deal with your bad attitude or ungodly thought patterns.  God wants to take you places but there is some baggage He wants you to leave behind. Why well don’t you remember.?

He makes all things new. If you feel like there has been a halt in your life continue to remain in Him. Sometimes we are just not ready for the next step.

God may be keeping  you in an uncomfortable place right now. But just remember this: He is preparing you for something far better. So continue to cooperate with Him as He trains you just as He did David. Knowing that His plans for you are good. All the details of His will for you are not yet in place. He is still working out the specifics. Your thought may be the same as mine was. “I have been praying and fasting for months now!”  Gently I say to you, there is no amount of prayer or fasting that will move His hand until He is ready.

Delay is not denial! God is just increasing your faith, expanding your mind, and teaching you endurance, and all the time keeping your attention focused on Him. Your circumstances may shout at you “God has forgotten about you!” BUT!!!!!!  He is working on your behalf!!!! How do I know.? Because…. “He strongly supports those whose hearts are completely His.”-2 Chronicles 16:9
