The Mind War

(2 Corinthians 10)

“...Bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”- 2 Corinthians 10:5

Did you know that what you put in your mind has an effect on what you think.? Did you ever watch scary movies as a young child and then have nightmares.?  It doesn’t take long to realize that the way to avoid the nightmares is to stop watching that kind of movie. The same thing goes with me about watching the news. I avoid it because fear attempts to stir leading to wrong thoughts. I will not allow fear to hold me captive. It is easy to let our thoughts get out of alignment with all that is going on in the world today but God gives us all we need to empower us to focus on the right things.

“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” -2 Timothy 1:7

God has provided a way to overcome unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and gain the self-control we seek. But it requires us to do things His way. We have the ability to exercise control over our thoughts. God warned Cain to focus his mind on the right things, but Cain chose to think about the wrong things. Are you willing to admit that you can, with God's help, regain control of your thoughts.?

Your mind - not just your behavior - must change. Instead of focusing on your outward behavior, work on disciplining your mind - from which the behaviors stem. Allow God to transform you by the renewing of your mind. -Romans 12:2

Stop reacting to your problems and think through them. As soon as a thought comes to mind take it captive. Focus your thoughts on the right things. Those things that are "true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable" -Philippians 4:8

Taking your thoughts captive takes personal discipline and commitment.  It is possible. As God empowers you to focus your mind on the right things, it will become easier. You can develop a new frame of reference and retrain your thoughts.

It’s A Mind War! Bring Every Thought Into Captivity!
