Whole Hearted Devotion

“Jesus looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow me.” - Mark 10:21

Jesus’ love for the man is expressed in a challenge, both stern and gracious. One thing many lack is a whole hearted allegiance to God. Jesus gave the man a stern test to reveal the fact that he had made an idol of wealth. Although in the bible wealth is shown as an aspect of God’s blessing and approval, the New Testament brings the added emphasis of the possession and use of wealth or money in connection with heart attitude and internal motivation. A righteous heart does not serve money. Money and wealth should be handled carefully and used wisely.

Don’t allow money and wealth to seduce you from your devotion to God. Practice generosity toward God and others. Stop any form of hoarding or laying up treasures on earth. Employ material wealth for the kingdom, not for personal selfish ambition. Remember that such a use of your financial resources has eternal results. Free your heart of your possessions. Stop seeking your security in financial holdings or material possessions.

'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind';.. “ -Luke 10:27

There should be no room for divided affections or allegiance.  “No one can serve two masters” -Matthew 6:24  God urges us to “lay it to heart” that there is no God besides Him. -Deuteronomy 4:39–40

We are to love God with our passions, hungers, perceptions, wealth, thoughts and we are also to love Him with how we talk, what we do with our hands, how we utilize our talents,  how we react to challenges. I could go on. I am sure you are now understanding it means with everything we have available for honoring God. That includes our spouse, our children, our house or dorm room, our pets and wardrobe and tools and cell phones and movies and music and computers and time. etc. etc.

Our entire being is to display that we love God and that we are wholeheartedly devoted to Him.

Do you have an authentic love for God that starts with God-oriented affections, desires, and thoughts .? Is it an authentic love for God that permeates your speaking and behavior, and then influences the way you spend your money, how you dress, drive, and the forms of entertainment you choose.?

Do you Love God with your everything.?

Your Love For God Should Be in Constant Action In and Through All Things.
