Follow The Leader

“Calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?” -Mark 8:34-37

Mark 8:34 says, “Whoever” you are, you can believe in Christ, repent of your sins, obey Him and be His disciple, if you really want to. Do you want to follow Him.? You cannot walk your own way, and just have Him accompany you. You walk behind Him, living under His authority, that is, “after” Him. When you come to Christ, you come to Him completely; you give yourself to Him fully. If you are determined to affirm yourself, please yourself, exalt yourself and assert yourself, you are not ready to be a disciple of Christ. You can’t just “see if discipleship fits.” It is a full commitment of self to Him; there is NO HOLDING BACK. Discipleship means forsaking all selfish personal ambition. Are you willing to suffer.? Self-sacrifice is the idea, even to the point of giving one’s life, rather than disobeying or denying Christ.

Your focus shouldn’t be on gaining the world. If it is you will suffer the greatest loss. If you try to hold on to what you have, you will miss what He wants to give you!! Do you want to miss out.? Let Go and let God following Christ fully committed to His will.

You may be wondering can’t I be a Christian and not be a disciple.? All who come to Christ are given life, if they mean it when they come. But if you don’t take up the work of discipleship, that life is given in vain. Don’t accept the grace of God in vain. -2 Corinthians 6:1 Only those who are disciples enter into an abundant life and no, we aren’t always good disciples, we all face failures in life. The Lord knows all and He makes provision for the failures in our lives.

What is your aim? What do you really want of your life? Do you want to live it for yourself, or do you want to live it for him?

C. S. Lewis said, “God is going to invade this earth in force. But what is the good of saying you are on His side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream, and something else -- something it never entered your head to conceive -- comes crashing in; something so beautiful to some of us, and so terrible to others, that none of us will have any choice left.? For this time it will be God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. There is no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing; it will be the time when we discover which side we have really chosen, whether we realized it before or not. Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back, to give us that chance. It will not last forever. We must take it or leave it.

Becoming a Christian is not easy. It is radical. But it is the only way to life. We were created to be His disciples. Are you Ready and Willing.?

Desire God. Walk in Obedience. Taking Up Your Cross and Follow Him in your daily life.
