Be Thankful

Be Thankful

2 Corinthians 4:14-15 “We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.”

This is the day in the United States where we take time to give thanks and families traditionally get together to sit down for a large family meal of turkey or ham plus their favorite sides. For me the sides are the best part of the meal. Yet as we take time to remember the things we are thankful for there is one thing we sometimes take for granted or even forget.

You see while we were still sinners God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Even though we deserved the penalty for the sins we committed God gave us a way to be free. Like the two turkeys pardoned each year by the President. God has given us a pardon from the wages of sin which is death.

So as you take time this Thanksgiving remember to give thanks not just to God but also for the men and women who shared the gospel message with you that brought you into His saving grace. Take time this holiday season to pray for your family members who do not have the same relationship with Christ as you do to. Also be open to doors God may open for you to share your faith with those unsaved loved ones.

Lord, we lift up our family and friends who do not know you as their Lord and Savior. We pray that you would use us as light in the darkness. That our actions would share the love of Christ just as much as our words. We also pray that you would soften hearts and open minds to hear your truth. It is in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
