Do You Hate Sin.?

(Proverbs Chapter 8)

“To have respect for the LORD is to hate evil.  I hate pride and bragging.  I hate evil ways and twisted words.”  -Proverbs 8:13

A great word was given this Sunday at my church by Jeff Taylor. He said the blessing of Abraham is already upon us. We know by reading and applying God’s Word and by allowing His Holy Spirit to guide us we can receive blessed and divine benefits. But have we received it.?

There are many awesome benefits laid up for us as Kingdom citizens.  Solomon learned a great deal from his father (David) and one of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 103.  God desires great things for us. We know He makes plans for our lives, good plans, plans to give us a future and a hope. -Jeremiah 29:11 BUT! Do you realize you have everything to do with what happens in your life.?  His plans are already laid out for you, just like the blessings are already upon us.  He has plans and He has given us blessings in life, but we must cooperate with His plans for our life; and part of that cooperation is learning to love what He loves and to hate what He hates.

Proverbs 8:13 says, “To have respect for the LORD is to hate evil.”  Other translations call this “The fear of God.”  We discussed the fear of the Lord a little while back in a different devotion. There are many people today who don’t fear God.  Many have lost the reverence for God Almighty. In Proverbs chapter 8 we see that Lady Wisdom tells us that she hates pride and bragging, she hates evil ways and twisted words.  How many times have you listened to or told a dirty joke.? Or watched a dirty move.? Or listened to the wrong type of music for your spirit.? She doesn’t celebrate puffed up arrogance. How many times have you been prideful.? She calls right right and wrong wrong!  She says what she means and she means what she says.  She humbles herself under the mighty hand of God, because she knows that if she is faithful, God will exalt her in her due season. -1st Peter 5:6

The more you fear and respect God, the more you will hate evil. The more we grow in God the more we should develop distaste for unrighteousness.

We should not practice sin.  Sin should no longer be a part of our lifestyle.  As Christians sin should no longer be tolerable to us.  It should bother us to be around sin.  Are you irritated when sin passes through your eye gates or your ear gates.?  If sin does not affect you at all, then there is something wrong!

Tolerating sin within yourself  will build up a tolerance for sin altogether.  Which leads to the excuses we create for why we do this and that; knowing that what we are doing is wrong.

Make a clean break from sin today!  Commit yourself completely to God!  PURSUE God’s best for you!  I know you want God’s blessings in life including walking in grace, peace, protection, power, and health.

If you really want to live and walk out the Best Life God has for you NOW, then make a commitment to walk in the purity God desires for you to walk in.

Father God, I commit myself to You afresh.  I rededicate my life to You and I ask that You help me to walk in the purity You expect me to walk in.  Holy Spirit, lead me, guide me, and direct me in the path of righteousness for Your name’s sake.  I commit myself into Your hands.  I choose today to make a clean break from sin.  I choose to walk in the newness of life.  I know that I have a part in what happens to me and I commit myself to do my part, by faith.  Use me Father, for Your Glory!  In Jesus’ name I pray,  Amen.
