Overcome your Negative Thinking!

“You keep me in perfect peace because my mind is stayed on you, because I trust in you.”- Isaiah 26:3 (emphasis mine)

Have you ever heard someone say, “I can’t do anything right! I’m such a failure.” There are people whose motivation and happiness are all tangled up in constant negativity. Stop beating yourself up all the time. By having a relationship with God, you have the power to conquer the negative thinking you allow to defeat you!

Some things in life will be easy to do and others difficult. Analyze your thoughts and deeds because it is so easy to fall into a rut. To avoid complacency and missing the blessings that God has in store for you, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace… And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” -Colossians 3:15,17

Be mindful of your attitude and be diligent and cheerful about the tasks before you. When a Christian’s thinking is primarily negative, anxious, or doubtful, it’s a sign of a serious lack of faith. Hebrews 11:6 says “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”  The struggle against negative thinking is a battle for the mind! Think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. -Philippians 4:8  Learn to control what you think about. When a negative thought comes, if you have the mind of Christ, you have the ability to push out the negative thoughts and replace them with Godly thoughts. It may take practice, but with persistence, it gets easier. The more that Godly substitution takes place, the more peace and joy you will experience.
