“And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.” Titus 3:14

I had the opportunity to hear a man of God preach using this title in his “irritational” message. It's hard to imagine life without telephones, but you don’t have to go back that many generations to a time when there was not a telephone in every home. And now, nearly every member of a family has their own cell phone. Times have changed, and this modern convenience has become front and center as Iphones, Droids, etc. now have the worldwide web at our fingertips everywhere we go. It’s unfortunate at all we are missing by having technology in our hands.  Can you imagine what it would have been like if Jesus walked around looking at his phone all the time.  Sadly we are creating and encouraging a culture of distraction where we are increasingly disconnected from the people, the needs, and the events around us. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR APPS! There are so many things in the world we need to open our eyes to. Have you noticed? So many needs that need to be met. God calls us to serve others not to spend time on our phones browsing FB, Instagram, and taking selfies. Are you spiritually focused.? Or cell phone focused.?

Serving others is not an option. Not only do we owe God our money, but we also owe Him our time. We are almost a month in to 2015.  Are you missing out on life because you are too busy recording and taking pictures on your phone, or browsing social media? Give life attention and look for needs that need to be met!

How many people have you served? How much time have you spent volunteering your time to help others versus spending time browsing on your phone? God wants all of us to serve in some capacity, no matter how busy we are or who just sent you a text, whether we work full-time or we are at school all day, or whether or not we are moms with little children. We all owe it to Him, whether we volunteer with an organization or give of our time outside of an organization. We all should be serving in some capacity. Stop wasting your time looking at your phone! There is a need in front of you that needs to be met you are missing out on being a blessing and receiving one.

Christ saved you from your sins, gave His life up for you, and in doing so, chose to serve others and not Himself. You owe it to Him. Let Him use you for His glory.

Father God, guide me. I want to serve You more. Forgive me for the needs I have missed because I have had my nose stuck in my phone. Lead me and call to my attention when I am wasting time. I want to be in a place where you can best use me. With my Head and Heart focused on you and all that you would have me do.  In Your Name I pray, Amen.
