Listen to His Voice

“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom,  and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.” -Proverbs 2:1-5

Listening to God is like listening to anyone but you have to be ready to listen. Just as in a conversation with anyone, you cannot hear the other person if you are talking or if your mind is distracted. It’s the same way with God. If you want to hear Him speak, you have to be quiet and  focused on what He is saying. Having a conversation with God regularly can transform your life, but you have to Prepare Your Heart to Hear Him!

Listening to Him requires a deliberate choice to shut out the chaos around you and focus your thoughts on Him. We live in a world of noise. Almost everywhere we go, there are sounds competing with our minds. Shutting out the noise around us isn’t easy, but we can do it. King David sought God’s direction at the beginning of every day. Daily we have battles in life and like a general in God's army, David wanted to hear from his Commanding Officer before he entered into battle. Shouldn’t we do the same.?

Morning is the best time to spend with God if that is possible, but if not find the time that works best for you to be alone with Him so that you can Hear Him speak to you. Beginning each day with God is a fresh reminder that, His mercies are new every morning.-Lamentations 3:22, 23

In your listening make sure to be obedient to what He tells you. Obedience is important. If you want to know what will happen if you don’t obediently listen to God’s voice read Deuteronomy 28 :15-68

If you desire God’s will for your life above all other desires, you can trust He will direct your path. Be quick to obey what He speaks to you, journal what He speaks so that when the time comes your testimony will be ready to share with others.

When you listen to God and obey Him, you will gain wisdom, you will discover a life that is full and rich with purpose, and you will be confident that you are following God’s plan for you.
