“…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…” -Hebrews 12:1

There are times I feel like I may have fallen off track, abandoning commitments, forgetting what God has shown me about love, and sometimes by forfeiting victory in areas of life I earnestly desired. But today is the day to get back on track! I am not going to allow the enemy, my flesh, or guilt and shame to keep me disqualified. I have to stay on course so I can achieve the goals God wants me to attain on His behalf.

After salvation, most Christians intend to live godly lives, but oftentimes, something unexpected happens and tries to derail us. Something like discouragement, personal problems, or old habits. When we’re born again, we begin new lifestyles that are different from those we previously knew.-2 Corinthians 5:17 We can’t live the way God desires for us if we don’t understand how christian life works.

God’s plan for us resembles railroad tracks. If a train stays on the track, it’ll keep moving and eventually arrive at its destination. The same holds true for us as believers. We can stay on the right track by following some basic principles God lays out for us to experience His best for us.

Make prayer and meditation on God’s Word a daily priority. -Psalm 1:1-3 God knows what you are going to face, so it is best to do this in the morning so you’ll be strengthened for whatever lies ahead.

Obey God -Romans 8:28 To stay on track we must follow His directions. If you decide to chart your own path, you’ll lose your way. His plan can’t be improved because His way is best. Trust God in every circumstance. -Proverbs 3:5 Stop relying on your own understanding the Lord has the wisdom, power, and right to direct our lives.

Wait on the Lord for His direction -Psalm 27:14  God sees what’s up ahead and might tell you to wait. Don’t get derailed by ignoring His warning you could end up losing losing time, blessings, and fellowship with the Lord. -Isaiah 64:4

Depend on the Holy Spirit -John 14:16-18 We don’t have the ability to lead godly lives in an ungodly world. Whenever we give the Holy Spirit control of our lives, He guides, protects, and strengthens us each day. Remember that God loves You unconditionally.-Romans 8:38-39 You may face discouragement, hurt, and rejection at times, we all need the security of God’s unconditional love to stay on track.

Give generously to the Lord. -Luke 6:38 Generosity is the cure for selfishness, greed, and covetousness. Instead of being derailed by envy and self-centeredness, look for those who need help.

Recognize that God is in control. Psalm 103:19 That means you have no cause for worry or fear. Keep your destination in sight. -John 14:2-3

Remember that salvation through Christ is your guarantee that you will reach your destination, and when you arrive, Jesus will be there to welcome you.
