Die To Self

“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” -John 17:22-23

It was once said that if you no longer have the functions of vitality, you “no longer exist.” That means, the essence of “death” is the absence of “life”. So if one dies, “one ceases to exist.” In the spiritual realm, when you “spiritually die to self,” self ceases to exist – that means, SELF IS NO LONGER THE REASON FOR your EXISTENCE. That means you will longer be concerned with “your own will or happiness,” because YOU are no longer in the picture... YOU are no longer the center of your own little universe... YOU no longer continue to arrange the world around yourself. We are not created for ourselves. When you truly “die to self” you will understand that God created you for a reason.

Truth can leave us feeling empty and void when we make a choice to live a life a part from God and His Spirit. That’s because we are created for oneness with God through the Holy Spirit and His indwelling within us. He desires nothing less and pursues us passionately, eagerly wanting to be one with us.  And He said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.- Luke 9:23

Having a sense of absolute need for God and His presence is the most freeing experience you will ever have. When you choose to die to self and desire to live for God you will truly start to live. Making a decision to submit and yield to the Holy Spirit doesn’t mean you will live a confined life. You will live a life of freedom with the power God has given you to live the life He directs and guides you to live.

Choosing to live careless, irresponsible and self-seeking lives, will leave you unsatisfied and discontented.

Submit to the Holy Spirit moment by moment and choice by choice. He will comfort, guide and empower you to live victoriously and according to His will.  Do you truly have an intimate concept of God.? Do you have a limited view.  There was a time I had a  limited view, but now I see clearly the many resources offered to me by God and I have the confidence to come to Him abandoned with fervent reliance in His ultimate authority. You can too!

Luke 11:13 says that our Heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. Ephesians 5:18 urges us to be filled with the Spirit. In whatever circumstances you are facing, ask God to fill you with His Spirit. He gives generously and desires to fill you!

Father God, I surrender myself to You. Make my life entirely yours. I desperately need You and Your presence In my life. Fill me with Your Spirit teaching me and guiding me in Your truth. Empower me to live as I give you all I am. In Your Name I pray, Amen.
