Let's Talk About Love
“Because of that obedience, God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth –even those long ago dead and buried – will bow in worship before Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.” -Philippians 2:9-11
Have you ever loved someone to the point that it seems like they are the only thing you want to talk about. I remember conversations in school when girls couldn’t talk about anything else accept for the guy they were dating or wanting to be in a relationship with. Their minds were consumed with their life with (that guy). For me (that Guy) is Jesus and it’s natural for me to talk about Him. I feel that I know Him so well and I’m so excited about what He has done for me and all that He continues to do in my life. I want Him to always be my hearts desire. I love Him! When we fall in love, we want to spend time with the object of our affection and willingly give our attention to the relationship. Falling in love with Jesus should be no different. -1 Chronicles 22:19 When I meet someone new or connect with an old friend, it’s natural for Him to be brought up in the conversation. Do you really love Jesus? Know that He is not persuaded by your words. He can see directly into your heart.
We should all be overwhelmed with love for Him because of the relationship we have with Him. Do you have a relationship with Him? Are you growing in love with Jesus ? Sure, we can talk about Jesus to others, but You will never be fully motivated to talk about Jesus if it’s just out of obedience to the call, or if it compassion for unbelieving people, or even if it is excitement about eternal life. Those are all great reasons to talk about Him, but they’re simply not enough. Passion to be Christ’s witness comes from our deep love for Jesus! The Love we have for Him makes Him really easy to talk about. When you read Philippians 2, think of God’s passion for His Son. Everything that matters to God is found in and through Jesus Christ. Talking to others about Jesus comes naturally when everything that matters to us is found in and through Him. So beginning this weekend I challenge you to: love Jesus! Get to know Him. Listen to His voice and surrender your will to Him. Confess your sin, receive His forgiveness, follow Him daily; worship Him always and enjoy talking about your love for Jesus.
Father God, there is no one that You love like Your Son, there is no name that matters more than the name of Jesus. Fill my heart with Your love and passion for Jesus. Let the witness of Jesus and the gospel spill over from my full heart and may people in the world be drawn by You to Christ through me. Thank You for changing my life. In Your Loving Name I pray, Amen.
“Indeed, my spirit within me seeks you diligently,”-Isaiah 26:9
