Radiant Faces

"When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God." -Exodus 34:29

Spending time in the presence of God is an incredible thing. It is what Christianity is all about. Christianity is not about following rules and laws. Christianity is not about being a nice or a good person. Christianity isn't about doing good things for people. Christianity isn't even about going to heaven. Christianity is about personal, intimate interaction with God, the Great I Am.

You cannot have Christianity without that relationship. It isn't possible. That's why Jesus says in Matthew 7:21-23, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" We can act like a Christian and even do good things in the name of Jesus, but if we do not intimately connect with him (which is his will), then he will deny us on the day of judgment.

So spend time with your Creator! He loves you and desires to be close to you. You were created to be close to him. You were created to learn more about him. You were created for intimate relationship with him. And when you invest that time into him, it will begin to show. Just as Moses' face was shining after he came down from the presence of God at Mt. Sinai, so your face will shine with the radiance of God's grace when you are spending time with him in his Word. When you take time to invest in the Savior who invested his life  in you, you will be a shining light to the world around you. Let your faces shine!

"God, urge my heart, through your Holy Spirit, to spend more time getting to know you. I know it is what I was created for. I know that my ultimate purpose in existing is to know you and be known by you. As I spend time with you, may my relationship with you shine forth for everyone to see. May it cause me to make an impact on everyone around me. I love you. Teach my heart to love you even more. Amen."
